In no particular order…(and by the way, I do not receive anything from the companies listed here – just love their products and wanted to share)
1. Juicing fresh fruits & vegetables, see other posts for juicing tips & recipes.
2. Hanging upside down with Inversion Table (see more posts on inverting – coming soon!) In the meantime, check out: www.teeterhangups.com
3. Become a Label Reader: Read every label at the grocery store (gotta watch out for yeast extract, msg, high fructose corn syrup). Read every label on toiletries, cosmetics, household cleaning products. For soap, we love Dr. Bronner’s: www.drbronners.com
4. Exercise – my favorite is yoga and walking our dog, Charli, but I make it to the gym too. The key is finding exercise that you enjoy so you keep doing it!
5. Get some sunshine – Vitamin D, the natural way – about 15 minutes a day.
6. Eat close to the source – limit food that comes in a box. Think color when eating fruits and veggies – deep red/purple berries, dark leafy greens, you get the idea. I love my Thai-Go Juice from Nature’s Sunshine www.naturessunshine.com
7. Eat Local – even baby steps to support your local farming community is great – go to a farmer’s market, join a CSA, save your tomato buying for July/August in the midwest – any step in this direction is a good one. Research shows local, organic produce to have higher levels of nutrients than their conventionally grown counterparts. For more, pick up Barbara Kingsolver’s Animal, Vegetable, Miracle.
8. Use a nasal wash or neti pot every day – no more sinus trouble…you’ll breathe easier. I use this one: www.neilmed.com
9. Invest in ways to limit the toxins in your home: hardwood floors vs. carpet, regularly change/clean air and furnace filters. Throw out the toxic cleaning products in your home and replace with eco, home-friendly ones: Method, Seventh Generation…
10. Learn about and incorporate “alternative” therapies that might be right for you: acupuncture, regular massage, chiropractic care, etc…
